Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally request consideration for the late withdrawal from certain courses beyond the established deadline for the fall 2023 academic semester. I understand the importance of adhering to university policies and timelines, but I am writing to bring to your attention the extenuating circumstances that have significantly impacted my ability to attend and perform adequately in my courses.
In fall 2023, I underwent two separate hip surgeries. A circumstance that was unforeseen and beyond my control. These medical procedures were necessary for my well-being but had a big effect on my academic responsibilities. The recovery period which is ongoing, coupled with the physical limitations and pain management associated with the surgeries, made it extremely challenging for me to fully engage in my coursework.
The surgeries occurred on October 8th, and November 11th, and my ability to attend classes, participate in discussions, and focus on my studies was severely limited for a considerable duration after. The impact on my academic performance is evident in my grades and completion of assignments during this period. I have attached relevant medical documentation from my healthcare professionals to substantiate the details of my situation.
Looking ahead, I am committed to taking the following steps to ensure a successful academic trajectory:
Medical Follow-up: I will continue to attend regular medical check-ups to monitor my progress and ensure that any potential setbacks are addressed promptly.
Academic Tutors: I plan to use tutor’s to help me keep organized, on top of deadlines, and overall push my academics in the right direction.
Communication: I will establish a clear communication protocol with my professors, providing them with any potential issues that may arise.
Proactive Approach: I commit to taking a proactive approach to my studies, seeking additional support or accommodations as needed to maintain a consistent level of academic performance.
Despite these efforts, the lasting effects of my surgeries on my academic performance persist, and I am concerned about the implications for my overall GPA. I understand the significance of requesting a late course withdrawal and assure you that this decision is not taken lightly.
I kindly request the University’s understanding and consideration of my situation. I believe that granting this petition will allow me the opportunity to recover both physically and academically, ensuring that I can meet the high standards of performance expected of me.
Thank you for your time and consideration of my request. I am more than willing to provide any additional documentation or information that may aid in your process. I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a resolution.
Sincerely,
Mateo Tuioti (20369264)
