Petition Letter
Hello, My name is Olivia Arthurs
I am a third-year History student. I am looking to drop this course due to recent events which include a financial situation that added to severe changes in my mental health. These events were beyond my control, and have led me into very hard times. That being said I have been experiencing psychological challenges, which have now started to affect me not just mentally but physically. I feel extremely unhealthy and worried about what the outcome will be if I keep my schedule the same. I think removing this class with bring my stress level down and help me shine in my other classes as well, since I would be more dedicated to them.
However, I know it is past the deadline, and I would like to avoid any sort of academic penalty / financial penalty or anything that would harm my academic record. I have been working very hard these last few years to get where I am, and I would hate for this event to negatively affect what I worked so hard for.
Furthermore, as mentioned I have been working hard to get where I am today and doing so with the help of student wellness for the last few months. Today I brought up my concerns with everything that has been going on and they are willing to write a letter in support of why I was unable to drop the class before the deadline if that is needed.
I am happy to answer any questions anyone may have.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this.
