Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. My name is Eloise MacKinnon, I am a third year Environmental Science major, and my student number Is 20259802. I am writing you today to request the ability to add the two following classes: DEVS 250 and PHIL 270
I am requesting to add these classes as it is imperative that I take them to get on track and complete my degree in a timely manner. Unfortunately, due to a mix up of payment dates, my SOLUS account had a hold on it which, even after payment, took some time to expire. This made me unable to register for both DEVS 250 and PHIL 270 in exchange for two classes which I was waitlisted for, and which have recently closed. It is for that reason I need to add these classes after the add/drop deadline and am writing this request.
I understand that adding classes this late in the semester provides an extra challenge however I am very prepared to take that on. I plan on setting up a meeting with both my professor and Ta as soon I am admitted to the classes to figure out a plan to make up the work I have missed. I have also ensured that I am on top of my work in my current classes, so I am able to allot extra time to the newly added classes during the first few weeks. I know I can do well in these classes and handle the extra workload late addition courses produce if given the chance to take them.
If you look at my academic history here at Queen’s, you will see I have struggled with serious health issues since my first year. I am finally in a position to get my academic career back on track. I appreciate your support in helping me have the opportunity to finally shine the way that I am capable of, now that my health issues are finally improving.
I truly appreciate you taking the time to review my case. The addition of these classes to my schedule is extremely important to me both personally and educationally as I aspire to learn and grow as much as much as I can within my university career.
Thank you again, please reach out to me if you may require anything else from me.
Eloise MacKinnon
