Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to petition for late withdrawal from my 3 courses. I started the year off with Mono, before falling into crippling depression that has been an ongoing struggle since late October, which has made my academics very hard to stay on top of. Furthermore, I have struggled to find interest in my courses. I applied for consideration and was granted consideration through the end of January. My goal was to pick up courses again this term, however I am not mentally ready to take this on. In discussion with an academic advisor, they suggested that a good academic strategy can be to take some time off. This is what I plan to do.
I have attached a letter from my therapist supporting my petition. You will also see that I was granted my petition in January for the same extenuating circumstances.
I do want to come back to Queen's in the fall after spending some time to work on my wellbeing and academic direction. I enjoy being in Kingston, have made good friendships and know that I need time to reflect on my academic interests, to ensure my further success.
I had decided yesterday (March 1st) to drop these courses but unfortunately I was just a few hours late to do so in SOLUS. And if you can also grant the 25% refund of course fees (since I am submitting this petition less than 24 hours after the deadline) that would be appreciated.
I appreciate your consideration of this matter.
Sincerely, William
