Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean (Academic),
I am writing to request an extension of the Incomplete (IN) grades for my courses CHEM 281, MICR 271, and BCHM 218 from the Fall 2023 semester.
During the fall semester, I had exacerbated symptoms of my disability. These symptoms required me to visit the bathroom frequently and were debilitating at times. The symptoms affected my ability to write my CHEM 281, MICR 271, and BCHM 218 exams as scheduled. With the support of my QSAS advisor, I requested to defer them.
On the scheduled date of my deferred CHEM 281 exam, I had an acute allergic reaction with hives and breathing difficulties, which required me to go to the hospital. I informed my CHEM 281 professor of what happened, and he told me that the next opportunity to take the exam would be in the summer.
During the deferral period for MICR 271 and BCHM 218, scheduling conflicts occurred. My accommodations could not be fully implemented within the exam deferral period, and further adjustments would necessitate writing the exams in the May exam period, with the professor’s permission, which was granted.
To support my academic plans, I am taking care of my health and seeking support from my QSAS advisor and academic advisors when necessary. Lastly, I am continuing to take steps to manage my symptoms, including healthy eating. This has helped me have worsened symptoms less frequently this semester.
Thank you so much. I sincerely appreciate your consideration of my petition.
Sincerely,
Katarina Krivokapic
