Academic Plan
NADIA OSUNDE ACADEMIC PLAN
In the coming year, I intend to register in 5 courses. 2 in first semester and 3 in second semester. BIOL 111, ENSC200 in 1st semester and DEVS250, ENSC201, and ENSC290 in 2nd semester. Compared to my first year, this would be a reduced course load. I plan to major in Environmental Science. In this plan I expect a bit less workload than I faced in my first year, I’m well aware of the courses required for me to graduate from this course. Because I still intend to graduate in 2027, I’d be taking summer courses, every summer from now, to build up credits I could’ve made the past year.
There are action most students take for success in their education that I haven’t taken yet, such as fostering relationships in the classrooms and keeping contact with professors and asking questions regarding things that have been taught. The only reason I never did these basic things was because I was very overwhelmed with my new environment, and I face issues asking for help. With a lot of self reflection, I have come to see that these are very achievable actions that I usually would take if I wasn’t in the state I was in through first year. In this coming year I plan to seek psychiatric aid. The most realistic course of action I could take is seeking mental help and keeping to the instructions given so I could be a more productive student than I was this past year. Though it was tough, I have gotten more comfortable at Queen’s, and I have come to see all the resources it’s provides to provide me a better future and going forward I plan to seek the necessary help despite my aversion to asking for help.
Lat semester, I admittedly was taking more than I could bare. I wasn’t realistic with my goals, and I suffered for it. In my current plan, I know that I would have more than enough time to devote to every course I take. I take my first year as a learning experience to not bite off more than I can chew.
