Academic Plan
After being asked to withdraw the previous year, I returned with significantly improved habits and a much stronger work ethic. This experience taught me the importance of effective time management. I started doing things that may seem simple but that I had been neglecting before. For instance, I now attend every class without fail, ensuring I never miss out on important lectures and discussions. I complete every assignment on time and plan ahead to stay on top of my coursework. Additionally, I make a habit of thoroughly reviewing my notes and working through practice problems, reinforcing what I learned in class. These seemingly small but crucial changes have led to a noticeable improvement in my grades, as evidenced by my most recent term GPA of 2.68 compared to the fall and winter terms of the previous year (0.0 and 0.85). This demonstrates my commitment to my personal and academic growth.
Regarding my academic plan going forward, I have currently completed 87.0 units out of the 120.0 units needed for my degree in Applied Economics. However, I have taken 9.0 credits from the Smith School of Business, exceeding the maximum of 6.0 units from courses offered by other Faculties or Schools that can count towards my degree. Therefore, I have 36.0 units remaining, 18.0 of which are required Applied Economics courses and 18.0 are electives. Due to prerequisites, I plan to take three economics courses and two electives in the fall term: 3.0 units from either ECON 231 - Emergence of the Modern Industrial Economy or ECON 232 - The Diffusion of Modern Economic Growth, 3.0 units from ECON 310 - Microeconomic Theory II, 3.0 units from ECON 452 - Applied Econometrics, and two electives in topics of interest that are easier. I truly believe I am fully capable of doing well with this course load. After last term, I now know how to better focus my time and understand what is required to succeed in my courses.
