Petition Letter
To whom this may concern,
I am writing to request that my PSYC 100 fall/winter term course of 2023/2024 be dropped from my transcript. I previously had a meeting with the chair head of Psychology who advised me that my best course of action would be to send in this petition letter.
To provide some background of the situation, I have been diagnosed with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder from an early age. From the age of 10, I have seen psychiatrists, and various therapists and am now presently seeing a social worker. When entering my first year I chose to not disclose these personal challenges as l did not want to be signalled out among new people I was meeting.
Although I faced numerous struggles, specifically regarding examinations, PSYC 100 proved to be the most difficult
and caused severe side effects such as a panic attack during the final exam of the course. Despite the struggles I was facing I still made every attempt to try and succeed in the course. In addition to attending all my labs, I completed the extra credit content of the course. I passed the course with the bonus research marks but also recognized bonus marks will not override a failing grade.
Given the events of my first year, I have sent in the required documents to ensure I have accommodations for next year, however, am hopeful that this negative outcome does not have to remain permanently on my transcript.
Thank you for taking the time to read through my request and I hope that an accommodation can be made to have this course dropped.
