Petition Letter
Dear Academic Petition Department and Dean.
I am writing to formally request to drop my STAT 263 course after the academic deadline. Despite my best efforts, several unforeseen and challenging circumstances have hindered my ability to complete the course successfully.
I began the course in September, with the initial exam scheduled for December. Unfortunately, due to personal family issues, I was unable to attend the exam and opted for my first exam deferral to January. In January, I was unable to attend the deferred exam due to illness, prompting a further deferral to May. However, by May, the combination of my course load and deteriorating mental health resulted in significant anxiety and stress, leading me to defer the exam once more.
After consulting with Professor Molson regarding my mental health and the difficulties I was facing, it became clear that dropping the course was the best course of action. Professor Molson has told me he would approved of my late drop, and I have spoken with my counsellor, who has provided documentation to support my claims.
Given these circumstances, I respectfully request that you grant my petition to drop the course after the academic deadline. Your understanding and support during this challenging time would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for considering my request. Please feel free to contact me if you need any additional information or documentation.
Sincerely,
Phoenix King
