Petition Letter
I am writing to waive the deadline for the first level appeal, in order to appeal the decision to withdraw for a year. At the time of receiving the decision letter I was not in a mental state to complete the tasks required to appeal the decision. I am now in a state where I am able to appeal the decision and resume my studies.
This last academic year, I was struggling with a mental health crisis, inhibiting my ability to perform academically. Since then, I have started a new medication, have developed new coping strategies to help manage any crises and to promote general well being, and am seeking further professional help to manage my symptoms. These new strategies, as well as support from my parents, family doctor, and therapist, have made it possible for me to tackle this appeal process and return to full time studies.
In order to be successful in my return, I plan to keep working with professionals to manage my symptoms and improve on the strategies I have set in place. Additionally I plan to take a reduced course load of nine credits for the fall semester and twelve credits in the winter. I am also in the process of getting properly diagnosed in order to submit for academic accommodations in order to best achieve academic success. I hope to submit documentation from my doctor and a letter of support from my parents on the 30th of July.
Thankyou for your time.
