Petition Letter
I was recently diagnosed by a neuropsychologist with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder. I have gone through most of my time at Queen's being undiagnosed, unaware of the extent of my mental health problems, and thus with insufficient support or treatment. These issues severely impacted my capacity to perform schoolwork. During that time, I was also involved in a legal dispute with my employer, Residence Life, which affected my job security and also my housing security; I was at risk of losing my housing in Residence at any point with little warning.
I was forced to prioritize the courses required for my major that term, and by the time I realized that I would not have the capacity to complete FILM (an elective course), it was past the academic deadline to drop the course. Since then, I was also unable to complete this petition process because I was similarly overwhelmed with school, master's applications, and seeking a diagnosis & treatment for my mental health problems. Dropping this course is important for me, since I am worried about making the minimum grade cut-off for the conditional admission to the master's program.
I can attach both a letter from my therapist from that time, as well as the documentation that proves the diagnosis I listed earlier. Thank you very much for understanding.
