Academic Plan
While studying abroad, I will be able to maintain my academic standing and continue to make progress toward completing my degrees in my major of psychology and minor of linguistics. I specifically looked into schools that will align with the requirements that Queen’s University has for these degrees.
The institutions I plan on applying to are University of College Dublin, University of Glasgow, University of Edinburgh, as well as programs through International Study Abroad (ISA). After reviewing their course list, it is evident that all of these institutions offer courses in both linguistics and psychology that are similar to the courses offered at Queen’s. These institutions are all schools Queen’s has partnerships with for exchange, and therefore Queen’s has published a list of courses that will transfer over. This ensures me that while the institutions I am applying to offer many courses in my field, I am confident that there are multiple that are pre-approved to transfer back to Queen’s.
I am also prepared for the event that I may not be able to enroll in all the core courses for my programs while abroad, and am prepared to take electives while there. While this is not my goal, I am currently on track with both my degrees, have completed the correct courses each year, and am taking all core courses in this fall semester. Taking electives will still contribute towards my degrees and course requirements, and will not set me back academically. I am prepared and am able to be flexible in the courses I take abroad.
By preparing in advance, being on track in my degrees and having the proper knowledge of what lies ahead in my plans, I am confident that studying abroad will help me continue and stay on track for both my major and minor.
