Petition Letter
Dear Dean Jenn Stephenson,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to respectfully appeal for permission to register for my courses after missing the deadline. Unfortunately, I encountered significant extenuating circumstances beyond my control, which prevented me from paying my school fees on time and registering within the given timeframe.
The primary reason for my delay stems from the ongoing economic challenges in Nigeria, particularly the acute foreign exchange shortages. My family’s income was previously tied to the Nigerian Naira, which has been significantly devalued, making it increasingly difficult to secure and transfer the necessary funds on time. This situation directly impacted my ability to meet the financial requirements for my tuition and ultimately resulted in my missing the registration deadline.
In response to these challenges, I have made concrete steps to address the issue moving forward. My parent’s income is now indexed to the British Pound Sterling, which acts as a hedge against foreign exchange fluctuations. This adjustment will ensure more consistent and reliable financial planning. Additionally, I have established a payment plan that guarantees monthly payments into my student account regardless of whether school is in session.
I understand the importance of academic timelines and my responsibility to adhere to them. I am fully committed to ensuring this situation does not arise again and to maintaining good academic standing.
Thank you for your time and consideration of my petition. I am hopeful for a positive outcome that will allow me to continue my studies without further interruption.
Sincerely,
Kahlil Ekpo
