Petition Letter
Dear Artsci Vice Dean,
I hope you’re doing well. I’m writing this letter with a heavy heart, as I find myself in a challenging position due to circumstances beyond my control. I truly appreciate you taking the time to read my petition, as this opportunity is significant to me.
Last year, my family went through some serious financial difficulties. Because of this, my parents weren’t able to pay my tuition on time, and it affected my ability to focus on my studies. To make things worse, I was placed on academic probation, which added more stress to an already tough situation. Despite all of this, I was determined not to give up on my education.
On September 14th, my family managed to pay the outstanding tuition, but unfortunately, due to the delay in payment, I wasn’t able to register for courses. At that time, I reached out to my Academic Advisor, who kindly advised me to contact SOLUS to check the payment status and then send a petition to the Associate Dean, hoping to resolve the issue. However, the payment still hadn’t been processed, and I didn’t receive any communication from SOLUS. This left me feeling stuck and unsure of what to do.
In the meantime, I tried to make the best of the situation and reconsidered my course options. I planned to retake ECON 110, MATH 126, MUSC 171, EMPR 100, and add COMM 212 in this fall. But, on September 25th, a friend(Rain Li) informed me that she had received an email that was meant for me, which was supposed to come from the Student Financials department. The email says they received the tuition fee I was unpaid. This was when I realized that a crucial miscommunication had occurred, and the email that should have been sent to me was mistakenly sent to someone else. This error has significantly delayed my ability to address my enrollment issues promptly.
In light of the above, I am kindly requesting that you grant my petition to waive the deadline. I understand this is an unusual request, but it is important to me.
I deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and I sincerely hope you’ll give me the chance to move forward in my studies. I’m ready to get back on track and do everything I can to succeed.
