Academic Plan
I have a concrete academic plan to ensure that my first year behaviour will not reoccur, and support systems that I am willing to use to help me follow through with my plan, and keep me on track.
Throughout the year, I had difficulty with some course material specifically my Politics and History classes. For my second year of studies, I wish to use The Writing Centre extensively to work on my essay writing skills, as I am currently in the habit of writing high school essays, and I learned that university essays are much different than high school papers. I want to break out of that habit, and I will with the services that are provided at Queen's University. This act will support my academic goals, as I believe that taking full advantage of the Writing Centre and Learning Strategies, I will become a much forward thinker, become a better student, and understand what professors look for, and dont wish for in University papers, and I feel that will greatly improve my marks.
I also will be scheduling monthly appointments with an academic counsellor that can help me budget my time in a healthy manner, and help keep myself on track as I progress throughout my second year of university.
By scheduling a meeting with Counselling services for this appeal, I realized that it can be used as a safe space during my time at Queen's, and I wish to attend as often as I see fit with my personal life.
I must admit, that time management was one of my weaker strengths during my year at Queen's University, but admitting the problem is the first step, an if my appeal to be withdrawn is granted, I wish to take action on these weaknesses, these include consulting with the Learning Commons, taking any on-campus workshops that can help me improve in other areas such as time management and study tips so I can completely transform myself, and go back to the student that worked so hard in high school to be admitted in Queen's University.
I hope that this academic plan is sufficient enough to grant my appeal for the 2015-2016 school year.
