Petition Letter
Dear Whomever this concerns,
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Megan Horton, and I am a third-year political studies student at Queen's University. I am writing to formally request permission to take more than 6.0 units of courses at another institution on a Letter of Permission for the January 2025 semester.
Last year, I worked diligently on my application for an exchange program through Queen's, eager to expand my academics. Unfortunately, I encountered technical difficulties during the submission process, which ultimately prevented me from participating in the exchange. This setback has fueled my determination to seek alternative ways to studying abroad, as I believe that immersing myself in a different academic environment is essential for my personal and academic growth.
Studying in the UK has always been a dream of mine, not just because of the culture but also due to my strong personal connections to the country. I have family residing in England who I would like to reconnect with and learn from during my time there. I have researched various universities in the UK, and I am particularly drawn to the University of Brighton. The political studies courses offered there align perfectly with my academic interests and career goals. I am eager to explore new perspectives on political theory, governance, and international relations, which I believe will enhance my understanding of the subjects that I am passionate about.
As I reflect on my journey at Queen's, I have enjoyed the political studies program immensely and have developed an appreciation for the subjects covered in my courses. However, I am convinced that studying abroad will offer me a unique opportunity to deepen my understanding of political issues and gain fresh insights that I can bring back to my studies in Canada. The chance to learn in an international setting, particularly one so full of historical and cultural significance, is an opportunity I cannot afford to miss.
I kindly request your support in granting me permission to take more than 6.0 units on a Letter of Permission. I am eager to make the most of this opportunity to grow academically and personally. I’m happy to provide any further documentation you may need to facilitate this process. Please just let me know what you need and I will acquire it as I am very keen to make this happen.
Thank you for considering my request. I look forward to your positive response and hope to take the next steps toward realizing this important academic opportunity.
Best,
Megan
