Petition Letter
Hello,
My name is Daniel Goel and I am applying for aegrotat standing as I have missed the exam date for Joshua Mozersky's PHIL 382 class. The reason that I have missed this exam is due to a combination of factors. I have experienced flu symptoms in addition to nausea, and reactivity to light. I believe that this has come as a result of a concussion which I suffered recently in combination with seasonal flu symptoms or potential COVID-19 symptoms. Despite this, I planned on attending, and writing, the exam associated with the PHIL 382 course. However, this did not occur given the state of my illness and inability to perform basic tasks.
I believe that this petition is a justified request for three different reasons.
The first reason is the impact which this concussion has had on my well-being leading up to the exam season in general itself. This impacted my ability to physically look at screens as well as my general mental condition. I did not believe that this would have impacted my ability to actually function for this examination, otherwise I would have contacted the teaching staff associated with the course to inform them of my situation and figure out some other solution. What I did not foresee was the combined effects of the concussion in congruence with flu/COVID-19 symptoms which rendered me more ill than I had anticipated.
Secondly, my grade entering this exam was a 78%, or an equivalent B+. This is a grade higher than my average GPA. The reason I believe that this is relevant is such that preserving such a grade is something which would generally be the typical course of action. In short, what I am trying to say is that I did not skip this examination on purpose. The grade which I would have needed to achieve to
