Petition Letter
Thank you for taking the time to consider my petition for a LoP. I completed my exchange in 2024 winter, so I have already completed my 6.0 outside units, however, I believe it would be valid to allow one more 3.0-unit course, considering the current circumstances.
On my exchange, I completed a third-year level course that I was hoping to count towards my 4th out of 5 department requirements. Unfortunately, this course ended up counting as cognitive, rather than behavioural neuropsych, leaving me with 1 remaining department unfulfilled. I begin my full-time job as a server back in Toronto on May 1st, so I will not be able to return to Kingston to receive my final needed credit. I am hoping to apply to graduate school this coming fall and would obviously need to have graduated to do so. There are no summer courses offered online that would meet the requirements for either developmental or behavioural neuropsych at the third-year level. The only course offered online, at all, would be PSYC370 (developmental), however, whether this course will be offered in the fall or winter term will not be known until the end of June. This would leave me with no knowledge of whether I will be able to get a letter of completion by the end of next December or if I will be waiting until the following spring. Although, ideally, I would be able to graduate this coming fall, before PSYC370 even begins online at Queen’s. For this to be possible, I will need a LoP to complete my final course at an outside institution either in Toronto or online this summer. Due to the limited options at Queen’s, my current job timeline, and my hopes for graduate school applications in the coming year, I hope that you understand the urgency to get this course completed outside of Queen’s over this summer term. I will include proof of my academic plan, and I am waiting for my letter from the undergraduate chair. Thank you again for your consideration.
