To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally request a Credit Received (CR) mark in place of a letter grade for ARTH 101. While I have successfully submitted the majority of my coursework, I unfortunately missed the second assignment, which was worth 15% of the final grade.
At the time of the assignment deadline, my grandfather suffered a serious fall on ice. This was a deeply stressful and overwhelming time for me, and I was unable to focus or manage my academic responsibilities effectively, which resulted in me missing the assignment entirely. I had hoped to make up for the missed time in class, but due to cancellations caused by the ongoing teaching assistant strike, I was unable to access the support and instruction I needed to recover academically.
The strike also created a lot of confusion with changing dates and inconsistent communication, which added to my stress. I originally believed that a CR grading option would be available and accepted this as a fair reflection of my situation. However, after learning that this is not currently an option, I am formally requesting that a CR mark be granted in light of these extenuating circumstances.
Although I am confident that I have passed the course, I do not feel that my final grade accurately represents the quality of my work or my understanding of the material. I believe a CR mark would more fairly reflect my efforts and the challenges I experienced.
Thank you for considering my request. I am happy to provide further information if needed.
Sincerely,
Riley Stone
