Petition Letter

Dear Dr. Bénard,
I am appealing to the faculty¿¿s decision that I drop PSYC 100 (Summer, 2015). My name is Jane Eiyegbenin and I will be in my fourth year in the fall. My student number is 10071325 and the netID is 12je3.
Due to an extenuating circumstance beyond my control, I am sorry to state that I won¿¿t be able to finish the course. I received a call from my mother yesterday stating that her younger brother was involved in a ghastly accident and after a few days in critical coma, he gave up the ghost on Saturday. My uncle had always been in my life since as long as I can remember, like we practically grew up together. I have been crying non-stop since I was told and I am so weak. After careful considerations, I have feel that I won¿¿t be able concentrate on reading for the exams which is worth 40 of the final grade. I am travelling to Nigeria for the burial immediately the exams are over because I am also taking Math 232 and I would not drop that because it would be a reduced course load if my request is granted. I would want to start seeing a grief counsellor and I would love for you to provide any recommendations. I think this would really help me with containing my emotions and prevent them from affecting future studies.
PSYC 100 is a very interesting course that really opened my mind to why humans behaved the way they did. Even though it was a lot of work for the summer, I actually enjoyed doing it and I regret that I have to drop it but I know this is best for me. I would have loved to take it in the fall and winter in my next academic session but I do not have the accommodation for it since this is my last year and I have to complete all my requirements for my major and minor.
