Petition Letter
I am writing to respectfully petition for the removal of my Fall 2024 academic record due to extenuating personal circumstances that significantly affected my ability to complete my coursework.
Throughout the Fall 2024 term, I was struggling with severe mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression. These issues made it extremely difficult to attend classes, focus on assignments, and complete exams. I often felt overwhelmed, isolated, and unable to seek help in time. Despite my efforts to manage, my academic performance was deeply affected.
I began seeing a psychologist in February 2025 and have since transitioned to ongoing support through Queen’s Student Wellness Services. I also met with Queen’s psychotherapist, Emily Black, who recommended that I submit this petition and is providing a supporting letter. I am now working with a residence counselor to support my recovery and stability further.
Given that these circumstances were beyond my control, I believe my academic record from this period does not accurately reflect my abilities or efforts. I respectfully request the following:
Removal of grades for CISC 101 and ECON 112 from my transcript.
Removal of the IN (Incomplete) designations for MATH 121 and WRIT 125. I do not plan to retake MATH 121, as it is no longer a requirement for my program.
