Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am requesting that my grade in PSYC 331, a TF led course, be converted to a CR standing due to strike related challenges. At the start of the term, the breakdown of this course was such that the final exam and psychobiography essay were both large components of our final mark. The psychobiography was originally set to be due just a few days after the strike ended, but when the strike commenced, the deadline was pushed back indefinitely. We as students waited to find out if this essay would ever truly be due, as we were hearing that work handed in after the strike started wasn't being marked at all.
2 days ago, we found out that marks were being assigned- but that the midterm (the only assessment we handed in other than weekly engagement activities) would now be worth 90%, unless we handed in the final essay. If students handed in both the final essay and the midterm, whichever grade was higher would count for 90%. Engagement activities, initially worth 5%, are now worth 10%. The instructor informed us that seeing as the course is over, those of us who were waiting to find out if the essay was even still due are unable to submit it. This was extremely disappointing to say the least, as many of us were not happy with our midterm grades, and they were only supposed to be worth 20%.
The instructor let us know that we are able to submit petitions to have our grades changed to CR standing on an individual basis. Seeing as we were never notified if/when we were meant to hand in our final essay (several announcements were posted noting that the deadline of the final essay was
