Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I'm writing this due to significant life emergencies and circumstances that have happened between the fall/winter semester of 2024/2025 that have affected my ability to work on courses which required heavy involvement properly.
The most concerning events are regarding a deep decline in physical as well and mental health since October, including multiple instances of tonsillitis which caused complications and aided in worsening my executive functioning abilities; leading burn out from my disability. Although I was able to attend labs for most courses, due to compounding stress, I was unable to complete most tasks in the course.
Below is a letter from my psychiatrist retelling my mental state at the time.
Another instance which solidified my unwell state was a sexual assault instance in which a homeless man started pleasuring himself behind me at a line at the downtown CIBC in February of 2025. This heavily affected my mental health and with no solid support systems, I shut down completely, and was unable to finish any final assessments for the highlighted classes.
My mental health has been steadily declining ever since I entered Queen's to the point where I am heavily considering transferring schools back home to Winnipeg to be home with better support systems. However, I cannot transfer at this point if my gpa is at the state it is currently at which is why I ask to drop these courses so I'm able to leave and continue my academic career in a healthy state of mind.
Thank you for your consideration.
Clara
