Petition Letter
Dear Dr. Johanne Bénard,
I am writing you to kindly request permission to withdraw from COMM 251(Summer 2015) in light of my current medical situation.
Last Saturday (July 11th) I received a large impact to my head which has made me experience frequent headaches, dizziness and nausea for the past 10 days. I went to see my doctor last Tuesday and she diagnosed my condition as symptoms that are consistent with a concussion. I was hoping that it would be a matter of just getting an extension on my short assignments, participation in weekly discussion papers and final paper however the doctor said that it is sometimes hard to predict how long the effects of a concussion could last as it could continue for a week or even up to a month. She also strongly advised to avoid the usage of computers as would be required in an online course. This is why I would request to withdraw from COMM 251 as I am able unable to concentrate and do academic work during the most crucial period of the course with 40 worth of marks to be obtained.
I hope to use the rest of my summer to rest my head and limit exercise so that I am fully recovered for September 14th to start the fall term on the right foot. I enjoyed the material I learned during my time in COMM 251 because of the interesting overlap of psychology and business. I hope to retake it next summer online because I felt that it was very well structured and Professor Rowbotham was a captivating instructor.
Looking forward to a favourable response from you.
Thanks very much for your support.
