Academic Plan
Dear Dr. Stephenson,
I hope you are doing well. During my advising meeting with Heather on May 2nd, 2025, we discussed the possibility of switching into a Bachelor of Science Honours degree with a major in Biology and a minor in Life Sciences, in line with the new modular degree structure. If my petition is granted, I intend to focus on doing my best on the deferred BIOL 200 and BIOL 206 exams and will wait for all grade updates to be reflected in SOLUS before submitting my application for the intended degree plan.
I have completed all of the required courses for the Life Sciences minor except CHEM 112, which I plan to take in my 4th or 5th year. With the potential drop of BIOL 339, I intend to replace it with either BIOL 334, BIOL 341, or retake BIOL 339 in my 4th year. I am comfortable delaying CHEM 112 to the 5th year as I have already completed CHEM 113 and CHEM 114, and my priority is to complete the core biology courses needed for a research project I hope to pursue in my final (5th) year.
This summer, I will be taking on a heavy course load, and my focus will be on earning A's and B's to improve my GPA ahead of the Fall term. With support from Student Wellness Services (Will reach out to appoint a PCP and discuss my medical history) and the broader Canadian healthcare system, I am better managing the personal health challenges I have faced. Through a combination of medical support, lifestyle changes, and improved nutrition, my symptoms have eased considerably, and I feel much more capable of handling the demands of my academic program. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Shiv Parekh
