Petition Letter
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally request that I be granted a Credit (CR) in PSYC 342: for the 2025 Winter academic session due to the significant academic disruption caused by the PSAC 901 strike, which directly impacted my ability to complete the course requirements.
As you may be aware, PSYC 342 was taught by a Teaching Fellow (TF) who participated in the PSAC 901 strike. During the strike period, regular lectures, assignments, and crucial course components were disrupted, leading to an environment where it was difficult to continue my studies as planned. The timing of the strike had a profound impact on my ability to meet course expectations, particularly with regard to timely feedback, office hours, and necessary student support in the time of uncertain which also created a mental burden.
The strike began during a critical part of the course, which I had been actively engaging with and making progress in. Unfortunately, as a result of the disruption, the flow of the course was severely altered. The lack of consistent communication, feedback, and guidance from the teaching staff during this time hindered my academic progress, and I was unable to perform with the sudden return to the best of my ability.
Despite these challenges, I made efforts to stay on top of the material and maintain my performance. I reviewed course materials independently, participated in any available lectures and discussions, and reached out to my fellow students for support. However, the ongoing strike made it increasingly difficult to get the clarification and assistance I needed to fully understand the course content and perform at my usual academic standard.
As a result, I am respectfully requesting that I be granted a CR for PSYC 342, considering the extenuating circumstances of the PSAC 901 strike, which were entirely beyond my control. This disruption has had a significant impact on my academic performance, and I feel that the CR designation would fairly reflect my efforts in the course under these unprecedented circumstances.
I am more than willing to provide any additional documentation or information required to support my petition. Thank you for your understanding and consideration of my request.
