Petition Letter
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to respectfully petition for a late withdrawal from six courses I was enrolled in during the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 semesters. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete these courses successfully due to significant personal challenges that severely impacted my ability to focus, attend classes, and complete coursework.
At the beginning of this school year, I was sexually assaulted in my own bedroom by someone I trusted. As you can imagine, this experience was extremely traumatic and set off a chain of events within my personal life that led my mental health and physical wellbeing to decline. I did not have the clarity or capacity to take the appropriate steps to withdraw from these classes before the deadline. I understand the importance of academic accountability, and I deeply regret not acting sooner, but my circumstances made it difficult for me to prioritize my academic responsibilities during that period.
Since then, I have taken steps to address the issues that impacted my academic performance, including weekly counselling sessions at the Student Wellness centre. I am committed to returning to my studies with the tools and support I need to succeed.
I am kindly requesting that these six courses be retroactively dropped from my record. I understand this is an exceptional request and do not take it lightly. I am willing to provide documentation and further explanation if needed. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Angelina Martin
