Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am writing this appeal to add the courses RELS 131, PHIL 151, and HIST 125, for the summer May-July term, after the academic deadline. the extubations circumstances I experienced that prevented me from meeting this deadline stem from an ongoing and permanent disability, for which I am registered with QSAS. From time to time I experience periods of extreme increases in the symptoms associated with my disability, which unfortunately coincided with the beginning of the summer term. These disability related symptoms cause me to struggle to do any basic day to day basic needs for myself, and adding on academic responsibilities can be very difficult. I was also working with the faculty to be manually added to another class I had attempted to add a week prior, but due to a technical issue I was unable to do so. I wanted to wait until that issue had been sorted out before I made decisions on other classes I was interested in, and unfortunately started expediting symptoms shortly thereafter. I have explained this situation to the instructors for the classes mentioned in this appeal, and I have received unanimous support thus far to add these classes. I have also requested access to course material(s) while this appeal is considered, to ensure I don’t fall behind.
I appreciate your consideration of my appeal. These are some of the final few units I need to take before I am eligible to graduate, and it means a great deal to me to finish up over the summer term. I also want to note, I am awaiting a follow up email from one instructor, and an undergraduate chair. I will add these emails to the appeal once received.
