Petition Letter
I am writing today to petition the Faculty’s decision that I must withdraw from Queen’s for one year. During the Fall and Winter semesters, I went through very difficult times that prevented me from being academically successful. What caused this was long episodes of depression in which I couldn’t eat, leave my room, reach out to someone, or get my necessary schoolwork done. I came to school without a plan for structure, as I thought I could just figure it out as I went. I could not have been more wrong, structure was always laid out for me, and I didn’t have to think much, so I never knew I had an issue with creating it. I now know it’s one of my biggest weaknesses. This is what brought me to seek help from a psychologist, my doctor suspects ADHD and bipolar, and I am currently going through the evaluation, as I have a family history in both.
My doctor is currently out of town and cannot write a letter of documentation. I have attached me and my doctors last meeting summary. Please let me know if this is not sufficient documentation, and I can obtain a letter from my doctor for you. I just couldn’t in the 15-day timespan.
