Petition Letter
Although part of a larger participation grade, attendance was recorded on physical pieces of paper that we signed, which were supposed to form an objective criteria for marking attendance. I requested access to these sheets after recognizing that my mark did not reflect actual attendance. The teaching assistant responsible for recording attendance was unable to provide me access, and appears not have had access herself. I understand that participation is not typically subject to appeal, but in this case the objective basis for the mark did exist, and would have substantiated my appeal. My attendance mark is now arbitrary. I am asking that attendance be removed from my participation grade.
