Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am petitioning to wave the 1 year drop out requirement as I have extenuating circumstances. This past year I have from suffered 2 major injuries, one each semester. In the first semester I tore my MCL and sprained my ankle (which took about 8 weeks to recover from) at a wrestling tournament for the Queen's team. This first injury impacted my ability to complete my coursework and damaged my mental health. I was unable to attend classes and put in the amount of effort required due to my deteriorating mental health.
In the second semester I suffered from a serious concussion on January 24th, playing for the Queens Ringette team. I had to stop all academic activity due to this injury for several months. I have had previous concussions that caused this one to be more serious. This concussion is still not fully healed and I am still undergoing physical therapy to try to get my brain back to it's full capacity prior to the concussion.
For both of these injuries I followed up with Qmed. For the MCL and sprained ankle I saw athletic therapists and doctors around once a week and for the concussion I was seeing athletic therapists once a week and the doctor every other week and currently I have been seeing a specialist in concussions who I was referred to by Qmed to try and get my brain back to its full capacity.
I am submitting this letter past the due date because I am still recovering and have been focused entirely on finishing my coursework for the courses that were marked incomplete.
Thank you for your consideration and understanding at this difficult time.
