Academic Plan
Dear Associate Dean,
As part of my petition to take more than 6.0 units at another accredited university through a Letter of Permission, I am writing to outline my academic plan to ensure continued progress toward my degree and long-term academic success.
My primary goal is to stay on track for the timely completion of my Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Concurrent Education degrees. While living at home, I intend to take a full course load consisting of courses that align with the academic requirements of my Queen’s program. I have identified appropriate equivalent courses at a nearby accredited institution and will submit them for formal evaluation through the Letter of Permission process. This will allow me to complete my fourth year while preparing to return to Queen’s for my fifth and final year in the Concurrent Education program.
The decision to study from home is based on ongoing mental health challenges that have affected my ability to fully succeed in an independent, on-campus setting. Living at home provides a stable and supportive environment, which will help mitigate the emotional and psychological stress that has impacted my academic performance. I am currently working with a mental health professional and will continue regular sessions throughout the academic year to support my recovery and well-being.
This academic year, I will prioritize self-management and structure. I plan to maintain a consistent study routine, set up a quiet and organized workspace at home, and use digital tools to manage coursework, deadlines, and exams effectively. This structured approach will help me stay academically engaged and focused while addressing my health needs.
Although I will be temporarily enrolled elsewhere, I intend to remain closely connected with the Queen’s academic advising team and the Concurrent Education program. I am committed to staying informed about faculty updates, meeting program requirements, and preparing for a successful return to campus in my final year.
Thank you for considering this academic plan in support of my petition. I am determined to continue pursuing my degree with the same dedication and care while taking the necessary steps to protect and strengthen my health.
Sincerely,
Heidi Cui
