Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
I am writing to formally petition for a late enrollment in ARTF 101 – Fundamentals of Drawing and Painting during the current Summer term. While preparing to apply for graduation, I realized that I am one course short of completing my degree requirements due to a miscalculation. Enrolling in this course would allow me to fulfill my remaining credit and graduate at the end of the summer. Otherwise, I would need to return for an additional term in the fall solely to complete one class.
I understand that the official enrollment deadline has passed, and I am submitting this petition with full awareness of that timeline. The reason for this late request is that I only discovered the credit shortfall during the graduation application process. This was an honest oversight, and I take full responsibility for the error. I have otherwise been diligent in managing my academic progress throughout my time at Queen’s.
Due to my being on summer break I have ample time to complete the course, it also genuinely reflects my interests. I’ve had a long-standing appreciation for visual art and painting, and I see this course as a meaningful way to complete my degree. Ending my Queen’s experience with a creative and enriching course like this would be personally fulfilling.
I have maintained good academic standing throughout my studies and have not submitted any previous petitions. If permitted to enroll, I am fully prepared to complete the course requirements on time and to the best of my ability. This opportunity would allow me to graduate on schedule and move forward with my post-university plans.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Joshua Waldron
