Subject: Academic Petition for Removal of Course Grades from 2021 to 2023
Dear Associate Dean,
I am writing to formally request the removal of all course grades from 2021 to 2023 from my official academic record, under the University’s policy. My academic performance during that period was severely affected by a documented mental health condition, which resulted in extremely poor results.
Afterward, I returned to my home country to receive medical treatment. I have since made a full recovery and resumed my studies last semester. I have obtained official medical documentation confirming the severity and impact of my condition, and I have already submitted these documents to multiple academic advisors and the Associate Dean. Based on this evidence, they approved my continuation in the program.
I am making this earnest and urgent request because my current cumulative GPA is below 1.6, preventing me from registering for the next term. This situation is entirely the result of the significant negative impact of my 2021–2023 grades on my GPA. If these grades were removed, my GPA would rise well above 1.6, and I would not meet the criteria for another suspension.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration of my petition.
Sincerely,
Shilin Xu
Associate Dean
