Academic Plan
Academic Goals:
My primary goals for this exchange term are to broaden my academic and personal development in meaningful ways. I aim to deepen my understanding of global issues by engaging with new perspectives, which will enable me to approach challenges within my major with a more diverse set of tools. I also hope to expand my learning beyond my primary field by exploring interdisciplinary subjects that will encourage a more holistic approach to health, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Finally, I am eager to strengthen my cultural fluency and competence, enhancing my ability to navigate and communicate effectively across diverse cultural contexts in today’s globalized society.
Plans for Achieving Academic Success:
To achieve academic success during my exchange, I will prioritize effective time management by balancing my course workload across the semester in a way that allows me to engage deeply with each subject without becoming overextended. I plan to schedule regular check-ins with academic advisors at Queen’s and faculty at ISCTE to monitor my progress and ensure I am meeting expectations. As I have done at Queen’s, I will follow a structured weekly study schedule that dedicates specific blocks of time to coursework, assignments, and independent study, keeping me on track with all responsibilities. Equally important, I will maintain my personal well-being by staying connected with family and friends and making use of both Queen’s and ISCTE resources to manage stress and sustain a healthy balance between academic and personal life.
Academic Resources:
I plan to make full use of the academic resources available at ISCT, including its library and online databases, which will provide access to materials and perspectives different from those I have relied on at Queen’s. To further enrich my academic experience and cultural integration, I will also take advantage of ISCTE’s language support services to strengthen my Portuguese proficiency for both academic purposes and everyday communication.
