Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
I am writing to respectfully request permission to add an independent study to my Fall 2025 schedule, despite the add deadline having just passed.
This independent study was approved by Professor Christine Sypnowich on July 22, 2025, and we have already met, finalized a proposal, and begun the work. Unfortunately, I did not realize that I needed to formally add the course on SOLUS, and I only discovered this after the deadline, which passed two days ago. As a transfer student from the University of Toronto, I am still learning how Queen’s processes work, and this was an honest oversight on my part.
This credit is essential for me to graduate on my planned timeline. I’ve already put significant effort into the independent study, and Professor Sypnowich can confirm her supervision and approval. I would be extremely grateful if an exception could be made to allow me to register late. Moving forward, I will make sure to be fully aware of all deadlines to avoid this happening again.
