Academic Plan
Here is my academic plan if my petition is approved. I’m currently registered in my desired degree plan and have already met with my academic advisor to go over my Academic Advisement Report, confirm my remaining requirements, and make sure I’m on track to graduate. Together, we mapped out a clear plan through my ILOP term, Summer 2026, and fourth year. This term, I’ve focused on completing several core and certificate requirements in Film & Media, Business, and Entrepreneurship & Innovation so that my semester abroad fits smoothly into my degree.
For Winter 2026 at Charles University in Prague, I plan to take four courses: The Emotions of Marketing, Disinformation & Fake News, Tourism Marketing, and The Digital Ecosystem: Big Tech, Privacy & Marketing. These courses have all been submitted for transfer-credit pre-approval and fit directly within my program as upper-level electives. Each connects to what I’m already studying at Queen’s but adds a global perspective I can’t get here. I’m especially excited about exploring how European approaches to communication, marketing, and digital culture differ from North American ones. I’ve been in contact with Charles University’s international office to confirm registration and course details.
I don’t have any incomplete work from previous terms, and I don’t plan to work abroad. My focus will be entirely on my studies, though if I do pick up part-time work, it will be light and scheduled around classes. I receive OSAP and plan to meet with Queen’s Student Awards to make sure I understand how funding applies while I’m away. I’ve been saving through part-time work this fall to cover travel and living costs, and I’ll also check in with QUIC about any visa or travel requirements before I leave.
To stay on track, I plan to keep a weekly schedule that balances classes, assignments, and study time (about 10–12 hours per course). I’ll attend office hours regularly and reach out to professors early if I need support. I also plan to stay in touch with Queen’s SASS for time management resources and with my academic advisor for a mid-term check-in. Once abroad, I want to join a study group to meet students and adjust to the new academic environment faster.
If any of my approved courses become unavailable, I’ll choose an alternative from the approved list, adjust my schedule right away, and re-submit the new course for credit approval. When I return to Queen’s, I’ll continue taking upper-year Film & Media and Business/Entrepreneurship courses that connect with my focus on creative marketing and digital communication. If needed, I’ll take a Summer 2026 course to stay ahead.
I’ve already reviewed what studying abroad means for things like OSAP, credit transfers, and visa status, and I’ll make sure to follow up with the right offices before I go. I’ll also keep copies of all syllabi and graded work so I can finalize transfer credits as soon as my marks are posted.
Overall, this plan keeps me completely on track for graduation while letting me take advantage of a really exciting academic opportunity. I’ll be able to learn about media and marketing from a different cultural perspective, grow both academically and personally, and bring what I learn abroad back into my courses at Queen’s.
