Academic Plan
The past two academic years reflect a period during which ongoing health challenges, including physical health issues, bereavement, and mental setbacks, significantly interfered with my ability to engage with my studies consistently. During this time, I experienced a sustained mental and academic block that affected both performance and decision making. I recognize that these academic records do not reflect my capabilities, my commitment to completing my degree, or the standards I hold for myself.
The conditions that contributed to these difficulties are now being actively addressed. I have implemented multiple support systems both within and outside of Queen’s, including regular engagement with Queen’s student services, a tutor, therapeutic support and strides to improve my health with medical follow-ups and referrals to appropriate specialists. I am also communicating proactively with my professors to establish clear expectations and accountability. I remain fully committed to completing the academic journey I have started.
These steps represent a significant change in how I approach my studies. Rather than attempting to manage academic demands independently, I now have structured supports, routine check-ins, and professional guidance in place to monitor progress and address challenges early. I am assured these supports and this framework allow me to engage with coursework material consistently and effectively, before any academic issues spiral out of control. I am confident these steps will be effective, as similar supports have yielded positive results in the past.
This petition represents a step in re-establishing a coherent academic path and continuing my studies responsibly. I am fully committed to completing my degree and rebuilding my academic standing in a way that reflects my true potential. My focus moving forward is on steady, consistent improvement and sustained engagement with my studies. I respectfully ask that this plan and the concrete steps I have taken be considered in evaluating my request.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Jean Emmanuel Chort
