Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean office,
My name is Ross Tysiak, and I’m writing to ask about the possibility of submitting a petition for academic consideration regarding four failing grades from the fall 2025 semester on my record.
In April 2024, my little brother passed away. Since then, my mental health has been significantly affected, and I unfortunately failed every course I took after that date. I recognize the impact this has had on my academic standing, and I take responsibility for not addressing it sooner.
At this point, I’m taking a short break from my university studies so I can get my health in the right place and return ready to complete my degree. However, I’m very concerned that these most recent fails will make my GPA unrecoverable and prevent me from finishing.
Could you please let me know whether it’s possible to petition for the removal or adjustment of these failing grades (or any form of academic relief that may apply), and what the steps would be to pursue this? If there is a specific office, form, or documentation required, I would be grateful for your guidance.
