Petition Letter
Hi,
I'm a professional golfer and started my online degree at Queen's in 2018. This past year, I have transitioned out of being a professional athlete, and have been taking on full course loads to complete my degree. I recently received a job offer to begin work in June, and their requirement is that I have my degree finished.
I am currently enrolled in 5 online classes this Winter Term, and have completed 2 online through Athabasca (with a letter of permission). I'm just waiting for teachers to grade my assignments through Athabasca so I can transfer the credits over. After this winter term, I will have 3 classes remaining to finish, which I had planned to do through the summer term May-June, as my employer requires I have finished my degree.
I signed up for summer term classes, and the only 3 available that I haven't previously taken are: ARTF101, COGS 100, and CHEM 113. I signed up for all three because I need those credits before I start work. However, I didn't take Grade 12 4U Chemistry and the last time I did science was in 2015 in Grade 11, so I'm unsure about my level of understanding for Chem 113. Given this, I am asking if there's any possibility I can get an exception to take a third class outside Queens. I understand my degree says only 6.0 credits are allowed outside Queens which I am in process through Athabasca already, but if there's any way I can take a third outside credit class so that I can finish my degree I would be really grateful and appreciative. I'm not sure doing Chem 113 would position me for success to finish my degree and I would risk to fail and then not be able to start my new job.
I appreciate your understanding and consideration in this matter. Thank you so much for your time,
Selena Costabile
