Petition Letter
I am writing to respectfully request consideration of a late Personal Interest Course (PIC) application for CLST210. I understand that the deadline to submit a PIC request was February 27, and I take responsibility for missing it.
I only became aware that applying for a PIC was an option on March 6, when a classmate mentioned it to me. Prior to this, I was unaware that this option existed. As soon as I learned about it, I began looking into the process and submitted this request via email.
As the course has progressed, I have realized that it requires significantly more background knowledge in Classics than I anticipated when enrolling, despite having no listed prerequisites. The course assessments are also heavily weighted, making it difficult to recover from early performance challenges. As I am graduating soon and this course is being taken as an elective, I am concerned that continuing under standard grading will negatively affect my GPA.
I sincerely apologize for missing the deadline and appreciate any consideration that can be given to this late request. Thank you so much.
