Petition Letter
Due to the sudden medical emergency involving my father on February 23, I was required to urgently return to China on February 24. Since my arrival, my father has remained in a coma and under intensive medical care. His condition is unstable, and the medical team has required that I remain available at the hospital for ongoing decisions and caregiving responsibilities as his closest family member.
Because his recovery timeline is unpredictable, I am unable to make any confirmed travel arrangements back to Canada. At this time, it is medically and practically impossible for me to leave the country, and I have been advised by my family and the attending doctors to remain in China for the foreseeable future. As a result, I will not be able to return to Canada by April and therefore cannot be physically present to write the scheduled in-person final examinations.
This situation is sudden, unavoidable, and beyond my control. Given these extenuating circumstances, I respectfully request that the final examinations for COMM151, COMM101B, and COMM162 be accommodated in an online or remotely proctored format so that I may complete my academic requirements while fulfilling my essential responsibilities in China.
I will attach my flight itinerary and my father’s medical documentation to support my request.
