Petition Letter
Hello,
In the end of February, I went through a traumatic experience in which someone who I thought was my friend took advantage of me. He saw that I was going through a rough time and invited me into his room under the pretence of just talking before coercing me into things that I didn't want to do. He also happened to live upstairs to me. After this happened, I spent two weeks feeling immense guilt, disgust, and anger. I couldn't eat without throwing up, I couldn't get out of bed, I couldn't even leave my friend's house without feeling intense fear, and I couldn't sleep. My sleep schedule is still not back to normal, but I can function again semi-regularly. I took a week off, but it was only enough to where I can somewhat function not to the point where I have fully recovered. This experience can be backed up by two VECs, two seperate counsellors at student wellness, and also Gail at care support. I am as connected to support as I can be, I am just asking to take a course off and potentially wipe it off my transcript due to the nature of these extenuating circumstances.
Even before this happened, I was dealing with depression and borderline personality disorder (registered with QSAS), so I wasn't on top enough to recover from this issue without dropping a course. I cannot feasibly see myself being able to catch up before the end of the term, and the stress that it would add to my already-existing psyche is astronomical. I have chosen a course to drop due to these factors, and my attempt to end the semester as best as I can.
