Petition Letter
Dear Academic Vice Principal,
I hope you are doing well.
I am writing to respectfully request permission to take an equivalent course to CHEM 321 at another institution and transfer the credit back to Queen’s University through a Letter of Permission.
I am currently in my final stage of completing my Chemistry degree. This term, I am enrolled in CHEM 399, CHEM 321, and CHEM 326. If I am able to pass all three courses, I will be eligible to graduate.
However, I am feeling quite uncertain about my performance in CHEM 321. I have been putting in consistent effort, but I am worried that I may not achieve a passing grade. Since this course is required for my degree, this situation has been very stressful for me.
After speaking with an academic advisor, I was advised to consider applying for a Letter of Permission as a backup option. I completely understand that this is not guaranteed, but I wanted to ask if it would be possible for me to pursue this route in case I am unable to pass CHEM 321.
I would also like to mention that extending my studies for another term would be quite difficult for me to manage. As an international student, continuing my studies would involve renewing my study permit and making additional arrangements, which I am hoping to avoid if possible. My goal is to complete my degree within this academic year.
I want to emphasize that I am still doing my best in CHEM 321 and have not given up on the course. This request is simply to prepare for an alternative option, so that I can still complete my degree on time if things do not go as planned.
Thank you very much for your time and understanding. I would truly appreciate any consideration you can give to my request. Please let me know if there is anything else I should provide.
Sincerely
Ruixiao
