Academic Plan
Academic Recovery Plan
To support my successful continuation in my program, I have developed the following academic recovery plan to address the challenges that previously affected my academic performance and to ensure that I am able to meet the University's academic expectations moving forward.
1. Reduced and Structured Course Load
For the current Summer term, I am enrolled in two courses in order to prioritize academic stability and adjustment to treatment and accommodations. However, there is an importance of maintaining full-time status for my OSAP and plan to meet with an academic advisor immediately to discuss the possibility of adding an additional course during the June–July session, subject to approval.
I intentionally chose not to seek summer employment so that I could dedicate my full attention and energy toward rebuilding effective academic habits, attending appointments, and focusing entirely on academic recovery.
2. Medical Treatment and Ongoing Support
Since receiving my ADHD and OCD diagnoses in February, I have begun treatment and am continuing to work closely with healthcare professionals to develop effective symptom-management strategies. I just had a follow up to adjust my medications and plan to continue attending medical and therapeutic appointments consistently throughout my studies.
3. Academic Accommodations
I am in the process of registering for academic accommodations through the University's accessibility services. These accommodations will provide appropriate academic support related to concentration, testing environments, time management, and organization.
4. Academic Advising and Monitoring
I will maintain regular contact with academic advisors to ensure that I remain on track academically and make informed decisions regarding course selection, workload management, and degree progression.
5. Time Management and Study Structure
To improve academic consistency, I have implemented a structured weekly study schedule that includes:
• Dedicated daily study blocks for each course
• Assignment planning and deadline tracking
• Scheduled review periods before examinations
• Reduced distractions during study sessions
• Regular progress check-ins to monitor understanding and course performance
6. Commitment to Academic Success
My diagnoses and treatment have provided me with a clearer understanding of the barriers that affected my academic performance in previous years. I am committed to using the resources, accommodations, and strategies now available to me in order to succeed academically and complete my degree.
I respectfully request the opportunity to demonstrate my ability to succeed under these new circumstances and with the proper supports now in place, I am devoted to learning and long to succeed.
Sincerely,
Isabella Garrido
