Kwey Dr. Dorit Naaman,
My name is Aidan Hollywood, and I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts Honours program in Sociology. I am writing to respectfully petition for an exception to the International Letter of Permission (ILOP) unit limit for the 2026–2027 academic year.
I have been accepted with advanced standing into the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in the Biomedical Science program for Fall/Winter 2026–2027 at a fourth-year level. My admission is based on a prior completed Advanced Diploma at Algonquin College in Biotechnology. There is an established transfer agreement between Algonquin College and Atlantic Technological University (ATU) in Sligo, Ireland. Because this agreement is only valid for three years following graduation from Algonquin College with an Advanced Biotechnology diploma, as I have, this academic year represents my final opportunity to pursue this pathway.
I would like to remain active in my Bachelor of Arts Honours degree at Queen’s while completing this unique international academic opportunity. My intention is not to withdraw from Queen’s, but rather to continue progressing toward my Sociology degree while also pursuing the completion of my fourth year of a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biomedical Science program abroad.
After reviewing the International Letter of Permission (ILOP) policies, I believe my circumstances may fall within the category of a “unique learning opportunity” referenced in the exception policy for students requesting to exceed the standard 6.0-unit limit on an ILOP. This opportunity is time-sensitive, academically significant, and tied directly to a pathway that will no longer be available to me after this year.
I am therefore respectfully requesting consideration for an exception that would allow me to complete courses at ATU and transfer an increased number of units back to Queen’s, where appropriate and approved. Please note that I have already submitted a request for 6.0 transfer credits under an ILOP. Please find attached my full unconditional offer letter from Atlantic Technological University and course syllabus.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I appreciate your willingness to review my circumstances, and I look forward to your guidance.
Chi-Meegwetch,
Aidan Hollywood
