Academic Plan
Dear Associate Dean (Academic),
This letter outlines my academic plan and the steps I will continue taking to improve my academic performance and maintain long-term academic stability moving forward.
Over the past academic year, I experienced significant personal and mental health challenges that affected my academic functioning, particularly during examination periods. While I remained engaged in my coursework and completed assignments and coursework requirements, I struggled specifically with managing examination-related stress and the increased pressure associated with exams.
Since recognizing the extent to which these circumstances affected my academics, I have taken meaningful and proactive steps to improve both my well-being and my academic habits. I continue to work with mental health supports and accessibility services to develop healthier coping strategies and improve my ability to manage stress during high-pressure academic periods.
Moving forward, my academic plan includes:
- Continuing regular appointments with mental health supports and following recommended coping and stress-management strategies.
- Remaining connected with accessibility services and utilizing accommodations that support my academic success.
- Creating and following a structured study schedule to reduce last-minute stress surrounding exams.
- Beginning exam preparation earlier and using smaller, manageable study goals throughout the semester.
- Maintaining regular communication with instructors, academic advisors, and support services whenever difficulties arise.
- Prioritizing balance between academics, health, and personal responsibilities to maintain long-term stability and prevent becoming overwhelmed.
In addition, I have completed all outstanding coursework and am currently awaiting decisions regarding petitions requesting extensions for deferred examinations so that I may complete those exams at a later date once approved. I also have pending examinations for BIOL 205 and BIOL 206 scheduled for this month. Due to these pending and deferred examinations, I believe my current GPA does not yet fully reflect my academic abilities or potential. I remain highly committed to my education and confident that, with the support systems and strategies now in place, I will be able to successfully continue my studies and return to good academic standing.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Mehar Caur
