Academic Plan
I want to eventually switch into a Major in Chemistry, and as such I am currently taking MATH 121 in the Summer and am planning to take second year Chemistry courses next year (the specifics will depend on the scheduling of the courses). I plan to be a full-time student taking 4 courses per semester. Since my main barrier has been my ability to focus on schoolwork, I plan to consult the Student Academic Success Services to find ways to improve my study habits. I also am getting mentored by my boyfriend, who is a Math major, to help me with the math topics which have consistently been difficult for me in Physics and Chemistry. Finally, I will make a conscious effort to study at the library more often, since I notice that is where I do my best work, and my academic success has been strongly correlated with how often I am working at the library. Throughout the year, if I am taking courses at Queen’s, I will use all these resources to help me succeed and reach my goal of achieving a 1.6 cumulative GPA. I will check in on my performance every week, seeing how effectively I worked, if I am on track with all of my courses, and how much I am benefiting from the resources I am using. If I notice at some point in the year that this plan is not working well enough, I will change it by seeking new resources to support me and discussing my options with an academic advisor.
