Academic Plan
My current circumstances have changed since the demanding period in June and early July. The workload associated with my legal internship has now significantly decreased, which has created substantially more time for me to focus on HIST 283. I am prepared to make this course a priority for of the summer and to dedicate the time to catch up on all readings, lectures, discussions, and assignments.
Professor Cardo has confirmed that the first assignment remains open through its grace period until July 18 and that, provided I am enrolled promptly and fully dedicate myself to the course, I should not be too far behind. I aim to begin the course immediately after enrolment and complete all work and academic expectations. I am not requesting extensions, a reduced workload, or any adjustment to the course requirements.
I am very confident in my ability to manage a summer course alongside employment because I have successfully done so before. Last summer, I completed three summer courses while also working a summer job in order to further my academic progress. This required significant focus, organization, and discipline, and I remained committed to my coursework despite balancing career responsibilities. That experience demonstrated to me that, when I create a structured plan, stayed organized, and make my courses a priority, I am fully capable of managing a summer workload successfully.
I am genuinely excited to continue learning throughout the summer and into my fourth year. HIST 283 is a course I would approach with genuine interest and purpose, mainly because its focus connects meaningfully with my studies in Applied Economics and English, as well as my own experience as a South Asian and South African woman raised in Canada.
Regarding my timeline, I have also arranged to meet with my academic advisor next week to create a complete and accurate plan for the remainder of my degree, especially for my peace of mind. During this meeting, I will review every course I still need to complete, confirm which courses I am eligible to take, and properly calculate how each course will apply toward my Applied Economics major, English minor, Certificate in Business, and overall units degree requirement.
Moving forward, I will review my Progress Report and confirm my course selections with academic advising rather than relying solely on my own calculations. I will follow a logged academic plan that clearly identifies my remaining requirements, enrolment deadlines, and course options for each term until graduation. These steps will allow me to complete HIST 283 successfully and ensure that I approach the remainder of my degree with the utmost accuracy, and organization.
