Academic Plan
My circumstance is a one-time matter of course availability rather than an ongoing personal difficulty, so my plan focuses on the three areas outlined in the Faculty's guide to preparing an academic plan: my course of study, my workload, and my strategies for success.
Course of study: I am registered in my degree plan, Bachelor of Computing (Honours), and I have reviewed my Academic Advisement Report in SOLUS with an academic advisor to confirm my remaining requirements. Following completion of my two current summer courses, the equivalents of MATH 112 and CISC 352, COMP 452 at Athabasca University will be my sole outstanding requirement, and my advisor and I identified it as the appropriate course to complete my degree.
Workload: my total summer load with COMP 452 would be 9.0 units, which the Faculty's academic planning guide identifies as a standard full-time term load. The load is also staggered rather than stacked: the heaviest work in my two current courses concludes before the Athabasca course begins in earnest, and the Athabasca course is self-paced and online with no scheduled meetings. I am not reducing my course load, so no financial aid, residence, or status implications arise.
Strategies for success: upon approval of this petition I will register immediately in COMP 452 for the next available monthly start date. I will set a fixed weekly schedule of dedicated study hours from the first week, book the final examination as early as Athabasca permits, and target completion of all coursework and the final examination by the end of September 2026. I will request my official transcript immediately after the exam so my grade reaches Queen's before the Faculty's deadline for Fall 2026 graduation, and I will remain in contact with my academic advisor throughout to confirm my degree audit stays on track. Should any element of this schedule slip despite these measures, my fallback is to complete the course on its standard timeline and graduate in Spring 2027, so approval of this petition carries no academic risk beyond the timing of my convocation.
